ALBANY, N.Y. -- The City of Albany will allow the developer of the Albany Convention Center to demolish the Old Wellington Hotel next week.
Columbia Development was granted a permit Friday to use explosives to take down the 11 story structure, which will make way for the more than $65 million Convention Center project.
Columbia has selected Schenectady-based Jackson Demolition to do the demo. It will take place next Thursday morning, after the morning traffic rush has settled.
The building is located on the corner of Howard and Eagle Street.
People who work downtown and would typically travel through that area next Thursday should plan to a different route.
