Saratoga 150 celebrations are full swing this weekend and they began Friday night with a special event on Broadway in Saratoga Springs. Our Erin Vannella has more on the floral promenade.
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- It's a weekend of celebration in Saratoga Springs. The 150th anniversary of the first Saratoga meet is being celebrated over the next few days and Friday night, the city's history came to life on Broadway for the Floral Fete Promenade.
More than 100 horse drawn carriages, decorated with flowers, made their way through the city, followed by classic cars and people in period dress.
The parade is a tradition from the late 1800s and early 1900s.
"The costumes are amazing. I mean the vintage clothing, if I could go back in time, that would be it for me. I would love to," one person said.
"I've been to Belmont. I like horse races a lot, but it's just cool how all, you don't get to see this every day," said another.
Following the promenade, visitors lined up for free ice cream during an ice cream social in Congress Park.
