SARATOGA RACE COURSE -- This weekend marks the halfway point for the summer meet at Saratoga Race Course.
According to track officials, attendance numbers are down from 2012. Now, as the meet heads into the final stretch, organizers are hoping for a boost.
On Saturday, Marylou Whitney and John Hendrickson are donating $15,000 to a lucky Saratoga Springs man to bet on one of the races.
NYRA officials said they are confident people will keep attending through August.
"You know, a lot of people consider Saratoga as the August place to be, so I think the only valid conclusions are the ones you and I and everyone else will draw at the end of those forty days," said Eric Wing, NYRA Director of Communications.
Sunday is a giveaway day featuring the Fourstardave bobblehead, as well as the Taste of New York Festival.
