Clouds, Not as Cold Overnight

Periods of Rain Most of the Work Week

After starting out near and locally below freezing today, breaks of sun and a southerly breeze helped us climb to seasonably cool highs in the mid 50s in the Capital Region. Clouds that overspread the area during the afternoon will continue overnight with showers possible in some areas toward daybreak with milder lows generally staying above 40. Tuesday looks cloudy with fairly similar highs as today but with a few showers or periods of rain scattered around the area as low pressure starts to organize near us. A new center will form and strengthen south of Long Island and move slowly to a position off the northern New England coast by Friday bringing periods of rain and a raw northerly breeze with highs by Thursday not much above 50 and overnight lows generally less than 10 degrees cooler. Rain will pull north of our area during Friday, giving way to brighter skies and highs back to 60 or so by the weekend.
